Do a spring cleaning of your wardrobe and send it whenever it's convenient for you!

Spring is strongly associated with cleaning. This is the perfect time to declutter your home after winter and reorganise your space. Not sure what to do with unnecessary items? Check out our detailed spring cleaning guide!

What should be reviewed and organised?

Even the most minimalist interiors can easily become cluttered and overwhelming. That's why it's so important to tidy up from time to time.

In the spring, it's worth reviewing first:

  • Clothes - try to objectively assess the contents of your closet with clothes and shoes in terms of whether you actually wear them. If not, it's a sign that you should get rid of them.

  • Toys - products that children grow out of relatively quickly. There is no point in keeping them in the house if no one else plays with them.

  • Books - although many people dream of having a large home library, not every book is suitable. Some books are better to give away or resell.

  • Home accessories - are one of those categories of goods that go by in a flash. When you look through the contents of your kitchen drawers and hallway cabinets, you quickly realise how many things you don't need at all.

  • Garden equipment - with the start of the new gardening season, it is worth checking which tools and accessories can still be used and which ones should be disposed of.

When doing spring cleaning, you may wonder what criteria to use to evaluate your property.

How do you know whether to keep them or get rid of them?

Answer the following questions:

  • Do you use it regularly?

  • Does it fit into your current lifestyle?

  • Does it have sentimental value for you?

  • Does it make you feel good?

  • Is it irreplaceable?

If you answered ‘no’ to most of these questions, it's a sign that you don't need the item anymore. It is especially worth getting rid of unused, unnecessary, damaged, outdated, and repetitive items.

What to do with unnecessary items?

Spring cleaning doesn't necessarily mean that all unnecessary items need to be thrown away. Very frequently, you can give them a second life or simply pass them on to a new owner.

The best solutions are as follows:

  • Resale – if you're no longer using an item but it's still in full working condition, it's worth selling it on. You can use platforms and apps such as Allegro, Vinted, or OLX to do so. Not only will you free up some space in your flat, but you'll also make some money!

  • Donations - many unused items can be given to friends or donated to charity. However, only fully functional items can be accepted. Keep this in mind, especially when organising your clothing wardrobe. You can put unwanted clothes, shoes, toys or textiles in the PCK container, but it is better to take them directly to the foundation, shelter or orphanage of your choice.

  • Recycling - if an item is no longer usable, try to repair it or, as a last resort, dispose of it. Just remember to separate the waste properly!

Fashionable forms of exchanging things

Growing public awareness of environmental protection and responsible business practices means that people are increasingly looking for alternatives to disposing of unwanted goods. Instead of throwing them in the trash and buying new ones, for example, they are trying to replace them.

One trendy way to do this is through clothes swaps at home. It's a great opportunity to refresh your wardrobe while spending time with people you care about. All you need to do is organise a get-together with friends, where everyone brings clothes they no longer wear. You can swap items directly or follow the "bring something, take what you like" approach.

Bookcrossing, which involves the exchange of books, is a similar concept. Books can be left in specially designated places that are accessible to everyone, or exchanged among friends.

In addition, second-hand stores with selected items and even boutiques with premium second-hand clothing are becoming increasingly popular. You can bring unnecessary clothes and accessories there and in return receive either a portion of the profit from their sale or a discount on other goods. This is a green and economical solution that promotes environmental protection and minimalism in everyday life.
